Children's Literature
Let Thimbletack be your guide into the world of Spiderwick. Learn about the Spiderwick house and the mysteries of the Spiderwick family. Meet the Grace children and learn of the many magical creatures and entities that they must face in their new home. How often have we seen books inspired by movies that were inspired by books? Too often. This book is not one of them. It is focused on the original books and the universe contained within. And let me warn you, this is a beautiful book and your fingers will ache to hold it as soon as you lay eyes on it. Each glossy page is dedicated to a different facet of the Spiderwick universe. In the first section you are introduced to brownies. In another section you get a look at the Spiderwick family tree. In yet another section you learn of the Elven Glade. Each detailed page will ask you to look closely at all the illustrations or the secret compartments that hide tiny treasures within. The book’s brilliant use of “real” pictures and documents also gives the reader an uncanny sense of believability. For just a moment you could almost believe that you truly are looking at childhood pictures of Mallory Grace and her Great Aunt Lucinda. This is a book that offers great detail and would make a fascinating gift for the Spiderwick fan in your home. Reviewer: Monserrat Urena
